The Mural
Levy's Leathers plant sports Canada's largest muralLevy's Leathers commissioned local mural artist Charlie Johnston of C5 Artworks, to paint its factory and office building located in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
The result is “Layin’ Down Tracks” … a 16,000 square-foot continuous piece of art wrapping around three sides of the building, making it the largest independent mural in Canada. The theme is Music and Railroads and celebrates the city's cultural and economic history.
Images of eight musicians, each representing a different musical genre, are woven into railroad tracks which morph to recording tracks leading into a mixing board.
“Layin’ Down Tracks” has been awarded Mural of the Year 2004 by the Murals of Winnipeg organization.
